Looking for a new camera

Hi just looking for some tips on a new purchase. I would like an SLR, something like a Canon Rebel, but that is too expensive right now. So I guess I am looking for a good point and shoot. I would like to stay around $500. The camera needs to have a good zoom. I think what I want most is speed writing to the card.

What I don't care about is movie capability, or weight. Some cameras I have looked at is Nikons 5700, and Olympus 770 and 750.

If you guys could help me out I would appreciate it.

I have the Olmpus C750UZ and have been very pleased with it so far. One other camera to consider that others on here have and seem to really like is the Panasonic FZ10.
