You're either looking for a meet hog or you're not. The big sows and young boars taste better anyway. Somehow despite the fees they stay booked 8-10 months in advance and have the most repeat clients out of any hog operation I've looked into. To each his own I guess.

Yup. I've never figured out why some always want to moan about hog guide prices here, it is what it is. You don't like the prices guides or ranches charge, hunt public land. For those who can afford the higher end hunts, more power to them. I hope they enjoy their hunt too.

Since when does smaller ones taste better? The one I just ate that was 250+ pre-field dressing is one of the best I've had. I all depends on diet and how you cook it. And being on here makes me thank God that I've been lucky enough to know people that let me hunt their properties anytime.

Have a wonderful time. Write it up to let people know how it went and don't forget to take a camera and use it.

Big Horn is a great 1st timers spot. The hunt is not what many would consider wild game hunting but the hills and terrain make you work for your game. After the first timers shot it's like going to Rocky Horror Picture Show again. Yeah it was real fun the first time but going back 20-30 times it gets old. I have seen 3 kills in photos that I swear were all shot within 25 yards of each other on 3 different days. I have hiked those hills before but never hunted there. It is only a short drive for me but too small.

That said I have also been hunting Paso Robles, Camp Roberts and the Big Bear area alot with few harvests. If they got game and you want it go where the game is. I have never heard anyone leaving game behind after their hunt at Big Horn.
