Hi all, I'm looking for someone to go pig hunting at Fort Hunter Liggett. I have all my gear and permits ready. I have never been there and I'm new at big game hunting. Please let me know if you are interested. I also want to do some upland hunting.

Thanks,
Luis

It's a little warm right now, but I'd toss my hat in the ring for joining up on a hunt. I've never been on FHL, but have plenty of time hunting in general. Any idea on proposing when you all would be up for a hunt?

Gtimo, I'm sure you'll enjoy some great hunting; it'll spoil you from CA.

I'd be driving up from Orange County, so it would definitely be Friday and Saturday night.

Be advised that one of the elk seasons is open on Thanksgiving weekend. I don't know what closures will be in effect for that. Best to check first.

I have alot of hunting experience at hunter ligett, and all I can say is get your self a real topo map ASAP. The maps they gave u are terrible and you will get lost. Their are no signs on the base. Also, you will need a small 4x4 vehicle. Especially in the winter, their are really tight roads that are very steep. The best bet you have is archery. The main areas with all of the pig are Archery only. I am going out in December. Let me know if you have any questions

FHL in LOCKDOWN

I was at FHL yesterday hunted with my A24 tag. I also have a pig tag. To my surprise FHL was in lockdown. Make sure you have enough gas and supply when you head to FHL. Only military personnel they allowed with in the perimeter. Only one way in & one way out thru Mission/Nacimiento Ferguson Rd. intersection. All the fence gates are locked. Don't know how long it will last. Locked down was affected by Fort Hood shooting incident in Texas. What an idiot/physco that started it all. Fyi...:skeered:

This is from their website today. I'm still gonna call before driving up though.

"Hunting Areas open for hunting Thursday-Sunday, November 26 - 29, 2009 are as follows: Archery Only: 3 & 6B. General Hunters: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6A, 7, 8, 11, 13E, 14, 17, 18, 19, 23, 26, 27, 28, & 29. Areas 6B, 13E, and 29 are park and walk. Areas 13E & 29 are restricted to archery, shotgun, or muzzle-loading weapons only."

I have a very nicely equipped YJ for travel up there; thanks for the head's up on that JTA.

410, I knew there was still some elk hunting going on (good luck to them)...but haven't heard anything related to TA's being closed or restricted for elk hunters....

I just got my FHL pass. I want to go out dec 18 and 19, archery for hog. I would also go to a rifle area with my bow/ rifle hunt (I have a .308 remmington 700). I live in Santa Maria and can be available. My wife knows she will not see me on the weekends for a while.
