Los Vaqueros Reservoir pigs...

Took my son out to Los Vaqueros Reservoir today for some fishing. The rain ended up driving home but on the way into the lake I noticed a pig trap in a gully just off the road. A little further I say some fresh rooting. That area has always had pigs so I guess now they are moving in on the lake area. Too bad we won't be able to go in and give the EBRPD a hand.

Do you know if and where they are relocating these pigs? Where is this res?

There is a park off of Morgan Territory Road on the Eastern side of My Diablo. If it is accessablle to hunters I do not know. Their is also another off of Marsh Creek road about 4 miles west of Vasco Road. Some may remember the hiker that got lost for 3 days after falling into a ravine on the Morgan Territory Park?

The pigs litterally tear up the lawns on $1mil houses on the North Western side (Alamo/Round Valley ect) and they could not do anything for along time- they finnaly were able to hire a trapper (approved by DFG) that trapped and transported to an undisclosed location.

But they come back every time of this year and in 3 weeks most likely it will be in the papers or even on TV- They had KRON 4 out about 2-3 years back and with a green illuminitation night vision camera- they showed a group of 14 pigs going to town on some poor souls front yard- and they weren't gona leave till they were damm ready to leave.

It would be nice to have what Lake Sonoma has right here. And nicer to know someone that has hundreds of acres of private land in that area ( yes you- please pm me

) LOL

Trapped pigs are usually relocated to a rendering plant.

Every once in awhile one might make it into a contract hunter's freezer..But they are not released into another area.

A shame- they would be great up north onthe public public land in Lake County and the Forts that you can pay for to use. Like Camp Roberts.

My friend ranch would be agood place to let them loose. He would love it , so would I. They should make these trapers take them to BLM areas and turn them loose. then close them to hunting for amonth so people aren't waiting for the traps to open and shoot.

The really funny Irony of this topic-

We take our boys to the visitor centor on the north side for feild trips (they do put on some good stuff for Raptors/Snakes ect thru the Lindsay Wildlife Museum)- the whole area was inhabited by indians (and there are even caves w/drawingings dating back 1000 years in the hills to the North). They show in their museum all the way the indians lived off the land and the arrow heads to take their game.

But don't you even DISTURB a frog/mouse/gopher snake now.

Talk about your eco-unfriendly instructors for this new "park/preserve". It used to be a road we drove throgh to get to Livermore and the Ladds had one of the biggest cow ranches in the area- but you cant even take your dog to the lake- much less you make contact with it. Dogs pee and crap and thats a big no-no. But you can ride a horse on the western side- go figure- horses don't eat Iams food I take it.

The same is happening at Sly Park Resivor (aka Jenkins Lake) near Pollock Pines- dogs can no longer swim in the lake- they don't want them to pee in the lake! I have never seen a dog pee in the lake while swimming (is it possible?) but if he pees on shore- Anyone want to guess what direction the slope of the grade is headed?

To bad my dog was not one of the 1300 geese that craps all over the shore line there. He would have a ball.
