My hog bites me all the time, mostly 'cause she wants the apple I'm holding and wants it now! :)

Any animal that feels threatened and gets pushed into a corner is going to attack and seek escape. Still, it is kinda of rare.

What, it doesn't mention that Pig hunting is not allowed at lake Sonoma. Were they poaching?

Wow. So his dogs didn't do anything to help. I guess his dogs are no longer his best friends LOL.

Yea if he was hunting with his dogs on Lake Sonoma property then for sure he should get introuble for that one. Plus he could get a NASTY infection from the hogs bacteria.

Guys - Be careful before you jump to conclusions....

Here is an updated news link on the story. They were hunting on private property not the public land around the lake. So it does not sound like they were poaching.

Also, the injured party was Ernie Sanders who is a guide and having hunted with him this year, I found him to be quite ethical and fearless about chasing wounded game into the bush to put them down for his client.

Be careful before you start trashing someone and calling them a poacher until you know what you are talking about.

I also forgot to mention that his dogs are Jack Russel Terrier's. Small but fearless. My daughter wounded a pig that ran into the bush and Ernie and his dogs went in to put it down. Those dogs had a hold of it but let's face it, a big nasty pig can man-handle his dogs. They are good for keeping it contained, not for defending their owner.

I personally feel bad for Ernie and hope he recovers quickly.

I know Ernie as well. Before Lake Sonoma was ever put in, it was alllll private ranches and he and I hunted those private ranches. It is still private ranches around lake Sonoma and around the Army Corps of Eng. He was hunting in a place he had permission to be. In fact he had his own ranch there before the stupid lake went in. So before you start bashing someone on here, know the facts first.

Before the stupid ranches and lake it was the Pomo Indians land. One of the main places they got the things needed to weave their baskets.

Good thing the Pomos don't still have the land around lake Sonoma. There would be dead cars, beer cans and trash all over the place!

The story said he was picked up on usac land not private land. If the story was turned around and I was hurt on USAC land and found on private land everybody would be yelling poacher. Glad the old guy is a nice guy and will recover from his injuries. Now matter how long you've been around the laws still apply.
