Well, it was a tough hunt, those Rosies are not talking hardley at all! We were in areas with a lot of fresh sign, but they were just not making any noise...I think between my buddy and myself we heard a total of 4 bugles and saw a total of 4 elk...along with 3 bears and 1 lion. Luckily the ONLY elk I saw was this bull at 26 yards on opening morning...wish I had been packing my bow instead of the rifle, but oh well!

Oh, and did I mention those Rosies are HUGE!!!

My buddy still has a tag, so we are headed back up to find a bull before the deer hunters show up this weekend. Will post more when we get back next week.

Great job and photos... Was this a draw tag or a guided hunt?
Also, I find the quiet bulls to be the norm these days. I hunt over in east oregon in an area with good numbers of elk and they are silent, even shying away from cow calls...

Beautiful bull, now I can say I have seen a pic of a California Rooselvelt.

Good luck with your buddy.
