5-shot what are you planning on using? A bow or a muzzy? Just wandering.

Cool honestly that will probably be your best bet. I just saw the dates for that hunt. I wouldn't know that to do to pinpoint them that time. Usually they start moving down from the summer grazing later but I'm not sure they'll be moving down that early. I think scout and try to figure out their movements.

The biggest challenge with the timing of this hunt is that they could be up high in their summer range, down low on the winter range, or anywhere in between... You'll still hear some bugling very early and very late - not much during the day... The herd that I hunted don't migrate much, so I was able to scout them all summer, learn their patterns, and know that they would be doing the same thing during the hunt... Get some b tags and go deer hunting while elk scouting... I'll get you some good info on Monday... If you pass through Redding on a scouting trip, track me down. I'll take a ride with you and show you everything you need to know - 1 hour from Redding...

Hey Ken, Been awhile. Not sure if you talked to my dad but we got my brother a 5x5 last year, his second draw in 4yrs...GRRR. Someone shot at 380 I was told in the area close to where you and I both hunt.

FYI - THE WOLVES ARE THERE. I first saw the Oregon Gray wolf four years ago when we got my brothers first elk. My brother and dad saw a pair last season in our honey hole. This explains why the herd of 78 Elk we used to see, has split into small bunches and barely bugled. I was told they may also have had a litter of pups.

Do you know if there's any truth to the rumor about Grizzlies being released into the Yollo Bolly's. I talked with an Old Timer at the Sportsmens show in Sac and and he was pretty convinced.

Cheers,

Michael

I've got info on the Siskiyou unit hunt for you - shoot me a PM with your info or send me an email. Are you going DIY or looking for a guide in the area?

Old Timer is just stirring the pot. We can't move turkeys or plant fish without going through contortions. Grizzlies in CA were a foothill/valley species before we exterminated them.

I'd love to plant some Grizzlies in certain cities down south... Hey Michael! Haven't heard from your dad in awhile... Tell him 'hi' for me. You guys do well up in your honey hole... Wouldn't surprise me at all if the wolves have moved in on those elk - bastards!

Hey Ken,

Confident the Wolves have moved in to Siskiyou. I hunted the Yolla Bolly's this year and loved it. Passed on a descent 3 in search of the almighty toad. Can't believe the hunters roaming around up there. My brother got a nice fork.

My dad was up in Siskiyou and couldn't get in due to the fire. This should bode well for the Elk, seeing as they tend to hang in our favorite spot after opening day. Should make for a great hunt next year. Keep in touch
