Winter is almost over and I thought Snow would be a challenging topic, but as to not leave out the southern folks let's say Snow/Sand, get those cameras out and be creative.... The harsh lighting can be challenging but pull it off and let's see those stunning shots! Same rules as last month.

Just so we can all learn from this as well as have fun, please post the exif data if you don't mind... shutter speed, ISO, aperture, camera, lens.

Good luck and have fun!

Early April '07 in Iraq. Sandstorm rolling in while I walk back from the chowhall. Probably not exactly what you had in mind with "snow/sand" but there's certainly plenty of sand here!

Camera: Canon Powershot S410. No real manual settings, but it felt like f/2.8 @ 1/250s was a good match, and I'm inclined to agree.

Snow is no challenge when you are flying over Greenland
<
Well, it is kind of... I have flown over Greenland ten times now in one direction or another, and yesterday was the first time it was not covered with clouds. This image was taken through the window of a Boeing 767. And, there is still plenty of snow around here

My entry for the month. Jake nailed ELizabeth with this snowball in the tummy, but she got him with one to the face. Good girl!

It was called Greenland as the first ever real estate marketing ploy. Iceland was called Iceland by the Vikings to keep people from going there, because they wanted to colonize Greenland instead. So not knowing anything about either, Would you rather move to ICEland or GREENland?

PS, really cool shot. I’m amazed at the quality you can get though a comerical aircraft window. Very good job!

:toast-yellow:OOPs.. Sorry. I just read the rules.

1.) Photos must be your own. Yes its my photo.

2.) Photos must be from a hand held camera. (no video or trail cameras) Well. Its a handheld camera, but it was on a tripod. Does that count? I never taken landscape photos handheld. The tripod keeps them tack sharp.

3.) The photograph may have been taken at any point in time (e.g. does not have to be within the last month)
cool. last week, no problem.

4.) Up to 3 photos may be entered per contest.

5.) Keep your photos less than 800 pixels wide. Oops. I goofed it there. I made it 1024 wide. Sorry.

6.) The winner will choose the next month's topic.

Nikon D-50, Nikkor 18-135

It was very bright today, but I tried my best.

(Valyermo California)

The stream shot is looking South towards Mt. Lewis. The other two shots highlight Sandrock Canyon with Mt. Williamson in the background.

Walter, Not Fair! You put mountains and clouds in your snow picture! Seriously great shot though.

My entry... after a severe ice storm along Lake Erie in Northern PA.
