Okie dokie fellas... some of you have already read about my experience on this weekend's archery hunt, and know that I've got blood in my eyes and vengeance in my heart!

Or something like that.

But I AM ready to get out there with rifle in hand and see about putting some pork in the freezer. I hope you fellas are ready too!

So as we get things going, start packing and repacking, I'll keep you all updated with logistics. And first thing of all, let's talk about breakfast.

Let's try to meet up around 0830 on Friday morning at the Flying J in Gorman. Same place as always. I think everyone knows where it is.

Barbara has been at the Reno Elk Camp this weekend, so as soon as she gets back and we get in touch, I'll have the check-in details.

At this time, is there anyone who thinks they will not be able to make a 1000 or 1100 check-in?

Is there anyone who will not have a 4wd vehicle?

Is there anyone who is not planning to camp, but instead will stay in the motel up the road (wimp!)?

Also, for those who are thinking of tenting it...

One thought might be to go in with someone on the rental of an RV or camper. I know that over in Dublin, you can rent a 25' motorhome for about $400 for the four-day weekend (pick up Thursday, return Monday), or you can get a full-blown bus for about $600. Comforts of home without leaving home....

With the winds we experienced over the weekend, a tent might be tentative... It is possible that we'll see similar conditions next weekend.

Anyway, just something to think about.

More to come!

I think we're at...

Let's see.. remind me if I leave anybody out

1 - Myself
1 - BigDog
1 - BobLloyd (new addition)
2 - HuntsnDives and friend
2 - Gnn and friend
1 - Suzmar
1 - Chirohunter
1 - Dilprxo

So I think I make it 10 hunters. We should be done and sipping a nice beverage by Saturday evening! I'm throwing the dice and calling it 100% success on this hunt, unless someone is holding out for the purple polka-dot pig with 7" cutters!

This is a makeup for the January hunt that got stormed out. Unfortunately, it's too late at this point to add new hunters. Sorry 'bout that.

May hunt is plenty open, though... and should be awesome!

I think I mentioned this on the other thread, by the way, but if you bring a sidearm, even for backup, remember to load copper for it.

NO LEAD PERIOD.

Phil,

As far as our group goes its just going to be myself, my Dad (Gnn961), Kenny (Huntsndives) and my buddy Jeff (new guy). Our buddy Aaron that was scheduled for the January hunt had to bow out after the original hunt date was cancelled. Looks like there will be 9 of us total and I agree, we should be able to get'er done 100%. We'll be at the Flying J for petrified sausages and the usual breakfast specialties. Hopefully we'll be as lucky as we were last trip (3) hogs Friday afternoon/evening and assist anyone else that hasn't scored a pig before we celebrate Saturday night and sleep in on Sunday morning. Any idea of how many other groups that will be sharing the ranch with us that weekend? Can't wait for the trip.

Three hogs on Friday? Heck no... we're talking 5 on Friday and 4 Saturday morning... watch the sunset Saturday with a tasty beverage and a hot dinner on the grill!

So nine hunters. Works out fine.

Not sure how many folks are included in the other hunt. Barbara said she thought it was a smaller group, but not for sure. I'll try to find out ahead of time.

I'll be hunting the NORTH area the same weekend. Our group has 8 hunters and 2 cooks. We will be in the Cazador cabin. I'm not sure if there are any other groups on the ranch.

I'll try to meet up with you guys for breakfast on Friday.

So far weather looks like it should be pretty good, 60 in the day and fories at night. Hopefully the wind won't be blowing too strong that weekend. We may be bringing a ring for a fire but i'm not 100% sure on that yet. See you in a week.

I'm liking the looks of this! Roads should be relatively dry when we get there.

According to Ron Gayer (elkron), a lot of the higher ridges on the South side are still closed by snow and downed trees, but we should be able to get to most of our traditional hot spots.

I'm getting a little fired up! Anybody else?
