I have one of those portable fireplaces that I can bring along with some Juniper from my property.

I am bringing my pop-up camper. So, if someone needs a bed, I will have an extra.

Just spent a couple hours at the range getting the gun used to copper. I achieved "middle of pig" as Speckmisser would call it. I will go out one more time to fine tune it.

Me? In a steep, dark canyon?

Naahhh... I like to hunt on the open road, with flat land all around. Just ask anyone who's ever hunted with me!

Looks like the weather should hopefully hold out for you guys. The wind up here in the high desert finally subsided and it is a nice out. Hopefully it will hold out. The winds up here this weekend were miserable.

Thanks for the weather update...Savage. Appreciate if you could keep us posted as the week progresses.

I plan on tenting it....but if the weather gets too windy....I may just take you up on the offer(bigdog).

If a canyon is too deep for handheld radio reception....it's perfect for Speck!!

Good food, good friends, and PIGS.
No moon, millions of stars, and PIGS.

It seems like this trip is taking awhile to get here...................

One more day!

I'm a little sick but thank god for modern pharmaceuticals.

Don't forget if you see a shooter on Friday take it....you may not get another chance.

Should be a great weekend!

By the way, wanna remind everyone who sent $450 for the hunt to bring that extra $50 for check in.

Tear it up boys!!! I tried to join you, but Speck said that it was an elite group only, which I can see from the roster. I'm jealous. Have a blast.

Speck: I think you should leave the rifle in the camper until Saturday, 12noon. Deal?

I will second MJB's statement. I went on one of these JHO trips a couple years ago. Friday afternoon, I find myself on a hillside surrounded by little pigs. The biggest was maybe 75 lbs. I thought to myself, "You don't want to shoot a football this early in the game". So, I leaned the rifle up against a tree and took out my camera. I spent 40 minutes or so, sneaking and clicking on them. Never did see a hundred pounder.

And wouldn't you know it, I went home empty handed. Well, I should say that I didn't shoot a pig. I did take pork home with me thanks to Beastslayer.

This weekend, if the cross hairs find it........BOOOOOM!

The boy's freezer is empty.

Good luck guys, stack 'em up.

Hmm... noon on Saturday, huh?

How about the pistol?

Can I at least carry the video camera?

Naah... like Rancho said, my freezer is running mighty low this year. It's been June since I killed my last pig, and I didn't get an elk this fall. Those little blacktails just don't last all that long.

Besides, if I wait 'til noon on Saturday, that'll mean I have to skin and butcher Saturday evening instead of kicking it around the fire with all the other successful hunters.

I would use the bow on Friday if.....the wind is not bad, last time due to the wind, you couldn't get close enough for a trad bow shot but the rifle would have worked just fine.

Phil, I'll film while you use the bow. I'll even carry your gun if the archery thing just does not work out for you, but you can't go into one of those H*ll holes.....unless it's a good one!!!

Or I can help someone who really needs it, I just love being able to get people on pigs.

Well, the good thing about it is that he now drives Petunia instead of his truck. Petunia is more likely to be able to get out of those hell holes without cables and chains connected to trees...........

As far as weapons, I got the feeling that he is more interested in putting one in the freezer than seeing if he can get one with his stick and string.

I am not even thinking about taking the bow. I will be copper and powder all the way.

Looks like beside Phillip, I will be seeing new faces. Looking forward to meeting you guys.
