The first blue marlin of the season was taken aboard the "Aries II", with Captain Victor Nunez at the helm. Anglers Kelly Bower & Cindy Clark, Colorado, landed the 550-pounder on a rigged lisa, (mullet) 28 miles south of the Marina El id, on a conventional, 113H Penn Reel, using 60 lb. test. "Aries VII" landed the next biggest, a 430 lb. blue marlin, taken by angler Bruce Dees, Calif. Overall catches for 29 fishing days reflected 2 blue marlin, 5 stripers, (2 released) 6 sailfish, (4 released) 12 yellowfin tuna, 2 dorado and numerous dorado releases, for the offshore waters and easy limits of dorado and a handful of barracudas for 12 super panga fishing days.
