Write it up!

Have a great hunt and enjoy every minute of it, even the misses of they happen! Do write up your hunt in some detail and take pictures. There is no better way for the rest of us JHO hog theaders to learn about the different guides than to have "boots on the ground" reports.

Hey guys sorry about the late report. Me and my friends John and Andre hunted our buts off for 2.5 days. We hunted from Sat afternoon until Monday. We glassed hiked and did whatever we can to get on pigs. I was kind of disapointed because i thought we would have seen alot more fresh signs which made me think they dont have a huge population on the ranch. We hunted with Andrew which i believe is Nolans brother. He was very knowledgable and i would give him an A+ for effort. There hunting method was kind of different than what i like to do . We mainly would drive from look out to look out and just glass. I have no problem with glassing at all but i also like to get out of the truck and hit the hill sides and we came up with some great game plans where would go down a ridge and Andrew would pick us up at the bottom, we did this about 5-6 times. Well after not seeing any pigs, on Monday morning after glassing the barley fields and hill sides we decided to do a long hike and immediately into the hike i had a feeling we were in the right area, seeing all the beds and rooting i got very excited and i could almost smell them. An hour into we spot 6 pigs coming our way but because of how thick the brush was we were in we just could not get a clean shot off and i decided not to shoot. They literraly passed us within 50 yards but could not see them, and they spooked and went down a crazy hill side.
Well it looked like our hunt was over and Andrew felt really bad so he let us go hunt for some goat he has on the other side of the ranch that is high fenced, i was kind of against it thinking it would be a dumb hunt but we didnt want to go home empty handed so we said what the hell. To my suprise it was alot of fun you could make it as difficult as you want and that we did. We hunted for about 4 hours and all three of us got a goat.
I really enjoyed my time on the ranch i would hunt with them again but probably later on in the summer when the pigs are hitting the barely fields they have hard.
My goat is the smaller one

thats funny i was just with andrew this last weekend. Yeah he said the hogs weren't hitting the barley that much yet, he said after they cut the barley they would be able to see the pigs in the barley. I killed 2 four horns this weekend with him. P1000642.jpg

Did he have any bison or other animals in with the goats? That area is really fun to hunt with archery equipment. I used a crossbow awhile back and killed 2 bison.

he didn't have any bison up there. he said in this recession he gets a deposit first and then gets the buffalos. he had i think about 8 other goats in the 30 inch wide range, a barbado and texas dall, each with a full curl. he had a decent big white goat that would probably go 32 wide. even had a little pygmy goat with some cool horns that probably weighed about 60 pounds. he use to always be stocked up with about 30 rams and goats, but like everything else, its slowed down so he doesn't keep it stocked up as much as he did before. i killed a 29 inch long white ibex and 37 inch wide angora goat. no pic of the angore but here is the ibex. Size matters

LA Outdoorsman, how big was the ranch? How much of it is high fenced with the goats?
