Hey Dirk,

How'd ya do over the weekend at FHL? Those of us stuck at the office or at home need to live through the hunting of others....

I was at FHL on Saturday afternoon. Not to many folks around..The campground looked pretty empty and according to John at the check-in window, no hogs were taken as of 2PM.....We didnt get to hunt, we were on our way home from King City and decided to stop in. After we left there we drove over to "Williams Hill" by Lockwood, that is some STEEP & BRUSHY country. Shot the guns and called it a day.

Heh Kickaha,

Man it was a blast , being the first time hunting for hogs. went with my dad he hunted for deer all over california when he was my age never hog though but he showed the ropes on hunting. I saw alot of signs fresh rooting and tracks even heard the @#23@ but could nt see em in the grass. and bushes. where do they go after the early morning is over. I hiked all ocver TA 15 saw Elk, Deer( damn bucks were giving me the finger because they knew it wasn't deer season)Rabbit, bobcats(2),coyote's almost shot one it went right through it legs, at about 300 yards scared the hell out of it. I saw every animal but a pig. Oh well I have much to learn and I am going to enjoy learning. I also met Cindy

Glad you had such a great trip! I haven't been able to get out of the house for six weeks. This weekend's the limit though.

I think every hunter notices what you did. When you're hunting hogs, you'll see every animal in existance, EXCEPT hogs. Same with deer, elk, or whatever you happen to be after. They must read the DFG website.

I'll tell you I think those FHL pigs are just really smart. I think they are the smartest and hardest game to hunt at FHL.

To me a nice boar at FHL or on public land is worth a hundred pigs on guided private property hunts, make that 500.

I am excited about going to FHL this weekend. I am crossing my fingers on the base being open.

Happy trails
Bill

Some people have emailed me about billetting at FHL and not being able to get a room.

As I posted in the long FHL from a month ago, FHL billetting IS NOT required to rent civilian hunters rooms. Billetting is for the military and they are required to hold rooms in reserve. You can try and sweet talk them into a room but it sounds like they are not renting them out much to us hunters.

If anyone does get a room please let us know what line you used.
