We just used a gift certificate we recieved last summer for a new camera. An uncle who seems to be up on most technology said this was a good camera to get. Small enough to fit in my pocket for hunting, easy to use without too many gizmo's, and 3.2 pixels. Anybody have any first hand info. We are just starting out in digital and don't require much of a camera other than simple operation and good basic photos. Thanks in advance! DL

Hi DLuke,

I think you will carry and use your new Xi a lot because it is so compact and easy to operate.
I have had mine for a few months now and really like it.
I don't have many good hints or tips to give you.

I have had 11 x 17 prints made and the photo looks pretty good.

I think an extra battery is a must, a larger SD memory card and the A/C adapter are good ideas too.

I wish the Xi could be a little faster in low light situations.
Also I get some miss focused shots here and there, I guess I should try the spot focusing feature and see if that helps.

The best thing is that you can carry it anywhere, it's that small and easy.
Good Luck,
JJW

Thanks JJW. So low light situations have been a little bit of an issue. I'll keep that in mind for heavy canopy woods pictures. Thanks again! DL

DLuke,
Been trying the spot focusing feature,
and it has helped.

Indoor shots have been in focus, with very, very few fuzzy pictures.

Too bad it didn't speed up the shutter lag time.

Hope you are enjoying your Dimage Xi

See-Ya,
JJW
