I'm new to these forums, so let's get acquainted. Back in May I was driving home from work. That day I took
a dirt road and saw a momma bear with 2 cubs. The cubs were up a tree...
and momma was in a swampy spot about 20 yards from them and 35 yards from the road, feeding on
skunk cabbage.
Other people had pulled over to view the show, but momma was pretty relaxed.
After she tired of the whole affair, she walked over to a dry area, and the cubs came down and followed
her. She leaned back against a tree. They climbed on her belly and began to nurse.
This is the second close encounter with a bear I had this spring. The first became the subject of one of
my newspaper columns. Check out the link named "Close Encounters of the Bruin Kind" in the Bear
Hunting Forum.
