I've never used them, but I just got a copy of Montana Outfitter Journal and saw that they were listed in the Membership Directory. If I were to use a guide for the first time, I'd contact them with a bunch of questions and ask for a list of both successful and unsuccessful clients. If you've used a guide in the past, you probably already know what questions to ask. If not, I'm sure this site has the resources to help you compile your list. It's your time and money being spent, you have the right to know what you'll be getting in return. Reputable outfitters know and expect that, so they should be willing to help you gain confidence in them. Good hunting!
Liljoe - I have hunted in the Noxon, Mt area. I hunted with Wayne Hill Outfitting out of Noxon. I was bowhunting and don't know about rifle hunts. I have heard of Tim Reihus while hunting. My guide mentioned them and several others in the area and gave me the impression that they were reputable. I did not hear anything bad about any of them, thought they offer different types of hunts. Very thick, steep area. You had better be in shape. If you have any questions about area, let me know and I'll give you my e-mail and telephone number. I had a great time. Missed 6x7 elk. Hunted in rut, very exciting for a flatlander. 4 out of 7 guys in our camp got elk. All but one got a shot.
Thanks for the info. I am going archery and going Sept 21 to 26 Should be during the rut. I have to get started on the stair master soon, I'm a flat lander.
