Whoadog, (Brian)

Hope you get your draw. I think we messed up by not doing the elk/deer combo and puttting in for the bonus point.

Keep me informed on your hunt since hopefully I will be doing it next year.

I guess I'll find out next year. If anyone has suggestions about Montana draws please post up. We will for sure put in for the elk/deer combo next year now learning more what it takes to put more odds in one corner.

Thanks
Dan

Well we struck out as well, I can't believe it. I was told when I bought the hunt that if we didn't draw the first year we would definitely draw the second, now it will be at least three years.

I just checked and it's still pending. I didn't draw last year and bought a bonus point. I bought another bonus point when I applied this year. I apply for the combo. It looks like I'll know soon...........

Brian,

I was told the same thing. Nobody said anything about bonus points paying extra for the combo or anything of the such.

I was told the first year you have about a 50-50 chance and the second year you should draw.

We did not buy a bonus point this year so now I wonder how long it will take us.

I believe that if you don't buy bonus points then you have the same odds of drawing the 2nd year that you did the 1st year. The reason that the odds would go up the 2nd year is because of the bonus point. I could be wrong but I think that is correct.

I got drawn this year for the combo tag. It was my second year applying and I had paid for bonus points.

It looks like I'm dead in the water this year. After two years of applying and two boneus points I'm still unsuccessful in getting the combo license. Kinda makes me wonder what the boneus points are good for.

It looks like I may have gotten a reprieve. They have an alternates list for licenses that get turned back in for one reason or another. When I emailed FW&P they said that typically there are 324 licenses returned. I was able to get number 163, I think, so I stand a really good chance of getting a license. The only problem is that I won't know until the 163rd tag gets turned in or until the beginning of September. I'll need to make all reservations for travel on a relatively short time frame.
I was gone turkey hunting when the web site was opened for the alternates list. My wife had to go on-line and do it for me. I walked her thru it with a cell phone from up on a ridge at 10 am on the first day of turkey season. She must either want me out of the house for a few weeks this fall, or she doesn't want to hear me whine again this year about not getting drawn.
