I took the attached image day before yesterday, through my window. I think this is the same cow and calf moose that have been hanging around here all summer. Well this week she's been in the yard, and here she is drinking water out of a container I'd left out by my flowerpots.
The calf sure has grown; it's real playful, too, jumping and kicking around. I yelled at the calf when it started eating the petunias that are just to the left of where it's looking in this picture.

Nice one Annie. The pup is growing up. How long do the young stay with the mother?

Annie,

What Treat thats gotta be having them in your Yard like that. I recall seeing a baby Moose in uebec 1 time. I recall them being VERY long legged and almsot silly looking. This lil guy looks a lil filled out already, But still has that silly look... Love to watch the lil ones, they are playful.

Around me, All we have are Deer as far as Bigger game, but do see lotsa lil ones around. had a fwan a few days ago in the yard, got lost from mama it appeared. she saw me and did'nt know what to do. started running in circles and darn neer run head first into a tree. finally got it senses about him/her and tore off across the street.

I did'nt have my camera with me Unfortunetly. Thats a pretty shot there. Got in your flowers hey,

Here they like the Tulips best in the spring... have not bothered the Petunias . I better Hushh, they may see this and get even.

Wildbird:
This calf will stay with the cow through this winter, but the cow will kick it out next spring, before she has her next calf. The yearling calves don't usually like to leave and they wander around and get into trouble quite a bit. Many times you'll see a young moose in town wandering around.
It's incredible how fast they grow, I took the following photo on July 2. I odn't know for sure that it's the same pair, but there's been a cow and calf around off and on all summer.

Any way I'm jealous of your beautiful lawn as well!!!! it's been terribly hot here and has'nt rained for quite some time, everyone's lawn is a nice shade of brown. It's nice to see green grass again.
Thanks for sharing. keep us updated on the little feller!!

Ever cool! As OhioBowHunter said, the calves sure are gangly. I have a Fall picture around here somewhere with a calf grazing, kneeling on its front elbows to be able to do so. Neck is just too short to reach until they get a little older.
