Here is a couple photos of the bull I took in Colorado third season this year. It was a tough hunt and I did not see many elk this year. The day I shot mine we ended up with three bulls down and had to get horses to get them out. Now I remember why I quit elk hunting back in 1978. These guys are big ! We ended up packing one out on our backs and the other two on the horses. Still a real job. We had a great camp and a good time with each of us (six) getting half an elk to take home. God, I hope I get a deer tag next year !:thumbs up2:

Great job! Ya' know, starting the hunt is great, getting the kill even better, the back out makes you wonder why you do it...then in a few months you want to do it again! I am hooked on elk hunting!

Sounds like a hell of a hunt, and you have a good bunch of guys. Great call on the horses so you didn't have as much work.

Yeah, it was quite a hunt and a great time. One of the guys was new to our party but I've been hunting with the rest of them for many years and we have had many memorable hunts. We try to hunt together every year but did not get drawn last year. We all wanted to hunt this year and decided to elk hunt rather than stay home. Who would of thought we'd get three bulls?

I'm sure glad we found some one to help us out with their horses ! Thanks Josh and Brook !

BelchFire.....I'm glad you like the photo. I got him in a great spot out in the open (for a change). Usually they are in the black timber or other thick stuff when I get them.

Where in CO? I saw a million deer (couldn't get a tag for one) but no elk. Didn't fill the tag this year.

Congrats on some fine bulls Big Moose. As Belch said that 2nd pic is a dandy for framing.

Congrats on a very successfull elk hunt :thumbs up2:That is just awesome to all tag out the same day! :panic: I'll have to agree with FoCoHugh, I also hunted Colorado and this was the first time in almost 20 years that I didn't see a single elk the entire third season. Getting tougher and tougher every year. I think they head right down to the private ranches as soon as the shootin' starts. Again, Congrats to you and your Buds :toast-yellow:

Thanks guys. It was a tough hunt. We normally see lots of elk in this area when we are deer hunting but this year hardly any. We had spotted these bulls opening day (Saturday) but it took us until Wednesday to find them again. We had the only camp with bulls hanging on the meat pole. We did hear of one big six point taken by a father and his daughter and that was about it. Unusual year for elk. We did get snow on and off but not enough to move them I guess.
