Hey all,

Well, I'm really excited about a recent find. I had been watching this large nest for a while but hadn't noticed any birds using it. One day, as I was driving by, I noticed what I thought was a head sticking up out of the nest. I turned around and went back but couldn't see anything. I decided to take a picture in order to get a better look. And much to my surprise and excitement, I saw this.

The next day, I went back to the same area and took this picture. The bird was sitting a little higher in the nest and offered some better photo opportunities. Hopefully, this will pay off with some great photo opps in the near future.

I was pretty excited about the hawk and then I was able to snap some shots of some wood ducks. They'd had proven very difficult to get close enough to without flushing them. Anyways, here's the wood duck.

Enjoy & thanks for looking,
Louie

great find on the nest louie. It would be cool if you could get some babies doing their first flight.

I'm working on getting more pics. The weather hasn't been cooperating. Lots of rain and gray skies. The nest is just off the edge of the road and today as I was nearing the nest site, I spotted another red shouldered hawk flying towards it with something in its mouth. No doubt it was bringing food to mom but my vehicle scared it off so I'll have to set up a blind or something to get some real candid shots. When I get them, I'll post them on this thread.

Wish me luck,
Louie

I hadn't been able to get to the nest in the last 3 weeks but I'm back to my normal duties and was able to snap a few pics of the new chicks.

Enjoy,
Louie

Fantastic pictures of the babies. Pictures turned out great showing the little ones.

Thanks for the update. We have a few nests in our area but they are so high from the ground it would be impossible to get any pictures.

Keep up the good work.
