Sure wish I had the same problems you guys are having. This year is a repeat of last year, about the time the mushrooms should be coming up we get cold weather. This year should have been a banner year with all the rain we got over winter.
I found that one batch and that's it.
Congrats to both of you on your mushroom success and think of me while eating your next mushroom sandwich.

Deershed, All areas are different but..... It was only in the 40's here the first week we were picking! Lows in the 30's. People were picking with gloves on. You may have some out there just waiting for you.

I went out yesterday after working the midnight to 8 shift and finally starting finding some mushrooms.I planned on only going to check on things and ending up looking 3 hrs.and finding 14 lbs. of mushrooms.

I left with alot of uncovered ground to be searched and knowing more mushrooms were there.
Most the mushrooms were scattered in small bunches and some were real nice size.I plan on being out all day saturday.

Looks like they are just comeing on around my area. Last week I only found 3. Today I went out for a couple hours and picked 67 of the black morels :)) most were nice sized ones!

Yesterday I went with wife & we got 42 beefsteaks. Things are looking up here!! have started to freeze some for later now.

If you cook a morel right, you get the best eating in the world!!
If you don't cook it right, It is only second best.

Glad you are getting into them deershed. I went out yesterday and picked around 12 lbs. It's getting to the end though. 3 out of 4 would crumble in my hands. We had about 2 inches of rain today so that will probably put an end to picking as there is no way I can get back into where I pick. Good luck picking!

I couldn't do much. Then last friday I walked up in the little woods above my house looking for something I lost, and there was one, my first. I looked around for a while and found nomore until the next day. I was turkey hunting, and when I got up and went to move, I stumbled on a patch of about 10 - 13 morels. My question is, how do you find them and where? I know they grow around elm and poplar trees, and in old apple orchards, but how do you determine the elm and poplar trees with all the green growing up this time of year, and when is the best time to look? I heard the morning after a decent rain. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't beleive I'm still picking these things! It's been 3 weeks solid. I did manage to get into an area today for 1/2 hour of picking. It's still unbeleivable. Picked about 15 lbs. and they are huge! I need to stop.
