I like the older Mossberg rinmfire rifles. I have my Dad's old 146B, a man-sized rifle with real walnut and blued steel. It is a tackdriver - Dad used to show off by shooting the heads off lizards when we were rabbit hunting.

I recently purchased a Model 46M with a mannlicher stock and can't wait to get my hands on it after the DROS is done. These rifles are high quality and can be had for bargain prices these days. I shot my Dad's in a "hunting rifle" rimfire match - no "target rifles" allowed - and I beat Kimbers, Volquartsens, tricked out 10/22s, etc.

The 46M Mossbergs are great rifles with superb accuracy.

I too recently came into an old M46 missing the magazine tube. Replaced magazine tube with a 46M tube and spring assembly, but gun will not feed and fire. Something seems off. Sure love the looks of this gun though old and showing some wear. Anyone know who to refer to on getting this figured out. seems like an ole time smitty might have seen this rifle and know the issues and operability. Thanks.

Mine also won't feed. I have been lazy and haven't taken it completely apart - maybe there are just some parts gummed up and sticking? I also replaced the magazine tune and spring.

One fellow said his feeding issue was caused by an elevator bracket that was worn and elevator bracket pin. Once replaced he said his began to feed nicely. Parts are available via Numrich Arms and Havlin Sales, Vic Havlin was President of Mossberg Collectors Association and sells replacement parts for old mossies.
