I got home a little later than ussual and the wife wanted to head up the canyon to do some visiting......we get about 1/2 mile from our place and I see a big black hog comming off the hill into the creek......I told the wife "there's mr. lucky".....(that's what one of the guys here at work called him and it sounds better than "the pig or the hog")....anyways,after we get back home I grabbed the camera and headed down to the creek to see if he came onto our property......sure enough there he is!!!! I take a quick snap shot and head back to the house for my bow (and my range finder)........when I get back he's still in the same spot...I range him at 56 yards.......no problem.......there's plenty of daylight left so I sit and wait for him to make his way towards me........not happening this time and he turns and starts moving the other direction.......I decide to put a stalk on him....I circle up and around and come back down to where I figure he'd be......not there.......a little ways down the creek I see something dark in the tulles....knowing that the only dark thing in tulles are hog's I put a sneek on him my mother would be proud of........as I stand readying myself for a shot I see a nice dark pool of water......
......I scan up and down the creek trying to figure out where he went when I see some tulles moving......I work my way around some brush and see his back sticking out of some grass......I range him at exactly 20 yards....mr. lucky's time has come...I stand and prepair to draw as soon as he get's into the open.........this takes less than a minute.......there he is......broadside....in the open......hmmmm....he's got boobies........it's mrs. lucky......I look around for the kids when she must have seen me or winded me...she let's out ther weirdest grunt I've ever heard and takes off...now I see the piglets comming out of the tules.......I still haven't figured out this camera but here's the quick pic I took.....I think I'll try "auto" next time and let the camera figure out it's own settings.....LOL.
