QR...this was taken about a mile as the crow flies from my work. There are a few of them known to frequent the area. They have even been spotted right outside the front door of my work a few times.

Here's the front veiw...

That is a real unique opportunity, most people never see one, even where they are common.
Thanks for sharing!

Ya Marty...me! That picture there was when she diverted her attention before turning around and moving off. I have a couple more pics where she's looking right at me. My buddy and I were cruising up the canyon in my truck when I caught a glimpse of white out of the corner of my eye in a small clearing between the trees. I thought it was a deer at first so I slowly backed up to the opening again and saw her lookin' down at us. Even though we were in the truck, we were both shaking just from the excitement of getting to see a beautiful cat like this. About a minute or so before seeing her, we passed two mountain bikers going the opposite direction, so she may have been stalking them, not sure. It was a pretty exciting encounter. I got a few of her looking at me, the one where she turns her head, then she turns and looks back and then one of her leaving. The next picture after that was only a second after and she's completely gone! They are amazing creatures, but I wish we could get a Mtn Lion tag!

Thanks for sharing the shots, and more thanks for sharing the story that went along with the shots. Very nice shots and an interesting story. It may be a good thing that you happened along in your truck as far as the mountain bikers are concerned. There are a few sightings in Missouri, but very few and alot of rumors about people seeing them. The latest that I have read and seen was a game cam pic that modoc (Missouri Dept Of Conservation) confirmed was a Mt. Lion. I second the comment on making a tag available.

Hate to say it, but the pic of the mountain lion and the fact you're seeing them out your front door screams to make it legal to hunt lions in CA!
