I have been shooting 85 grian thunder heads for the past 5 seasons. I have never been satisfied with the blood trail I gotten compaired to the 125 grain thunder heads. Thinking about trying the 90 grain muzzy 4 blade. Anyone shooting this blade and if so how do you like the performance?
bagman,
I've been using the 4 Blade 100's too, and they have been great. They fly very well, and they leave one huge blood trail. Don't let the small diameter fool you. They will actually cut a larger hole, than the larger 3 blades. Give them a try, you'll love them.

We shoot Muzzys alot and just went to the 4 blade 90's. great little head. It even punches through metal (oops) and it slices fingers well. Right now I have my thumb all bandaged up with a big slit in it. I was taking them apart while getting our bows out of hunting mode and ready for 3D. Ouch Ouch Ouch. Talk about a blood trail.
I've shot them for about 9 years with good results. The first deer I shot with one was a yearling doe the first year I used them. I shot her at about 30 yds. and pulled the shot just a little. The arrow struck her low in the shoulder and broke through bone like it wasn't there. Very impressive. I double lung shot another doe at 15 yds. a few years back and a blind man could have followed the blood trail. They're pretty tough little heads.
You will never regret shooting any size Muzzy 4 blade. I have been shooting them for years and they go clean through deer 4 out of every 5 times for me. The only time I haven't gotten a clean through shot is when I have been forced to shoot at a quartering towards you animal and have to plow right through the shoulder. Even then, they have gone through the other side but stayed in the animal. With a Muzzy and the right set-up, you can shoot a deer at any angle and get the neccessary penetration to kill. I have proven it to my friends and they love them. I do not recommend the smaller grains of any tip though. With my set-up (66lbs and a 30plus inch draw), I need the heavier grains and stiffer spined arrows for best tuning. I shoot the 125 4blades now but started with the 130gr because they didn't come out with a 125 4 blade until recently. If they are not flying good for you, it is not the broadhead. It is your set-up. If you are shooting more than 60lbs, you might want to try the 125's vice anything under 100gr. Just my experience with broadhead tuning though.
Howdy from North Californy, Not only did I switch to this head, but was able to go to shorter vanes thus speeding up my arrows. I didn't lose anything going from Thunderhead 125's to the lighter Muzzy's. I now use the same pin point blank to 25 yds. The hogs here don't have a chance!
They do have the practice blades but I don't like to use them because they are shaped differently than the normal blades. I do all my practice shooting with a standard blade that has gone through deer and in the dirt and is not sharp at all so it doesn't rip up your target and you get the actual effect of how it will fly in the field. Keeping it simple out here!
