Well time to end another chapter in my life and start a new one! just went into semi retirement a couple of months ago and the game plan is to move to Florida soon for the retirement, our place will be on the market in one week and i have a feeling this place will sell fast and then we have to go into a rental for a few months till we move to florida real close to Ft. Myers. the reason we have to wait to move there they still have to build our new home over there whitch should be done by the end of 2014.

so now with all this getting ready to kick in it will be real tuff for me to do any hunting till we move with packing and unpacking and a the b.s. that comes with moving to a rental then agian out of state so my life will be hecktic for the next few months butt i hope to get out a few more times of cali hog hunting before i leave this state and hope to share those hunts again with some of my great JHO hunting partners and Bro's.
its a little depressing but i have to look at the upside of the move now that i will be in a state with great hunting and fishing (big time Bowfishing there). they got gators and tarpon and sharks and Flying carp! Pigs, axis deer , turkey and hogs, oh yeh cant forget about the giant anacondas!

the days of hunting my good friend Choppers ranch with my bro's will be well missed and of course hunting the lake (Lake Sonoma) is the best public land for pigs to hunt for sure will be well missed too by me.
like i said its a new chapter in my life to start so i really want to try and enjoy the rest of my cali days trying to get a few good hunts and fishing time and spending time with my great Jho bro's if possible before i leave.
i look forward to posting up and sharing my florida hunting adventures in the future here on jho and it will be exciting! have a great day my friends!....tra

Congrats on your move. Bravo Zulu for moving to a state where you have at least a few personal liberties left and one that offers quite a bit of outdoors activity and wild game. Travel mercies on your move.

Thanks guys, I have been googling the area I will be living at for public land hunting and and outfitters and I am in a great location within 2 hrs or less of a couple of top outfitters with reasonable prices for hog hunting and once I get settled in I am sure I will find a lot of great other places to hunt. Here's a couple of outfitters I am real close too!.....tra

What city are you moving to? I'm heavily debating moving down there to be closer to my son.

Have fun TRA and goodluck! I'm heading down to Florida next weekend for a wedding and I hope I can sneak some sort of outdoor activity while the g/f is doing whatever she does.

Thanks Nisan! Cliff for me its an early semi retirement for me my wife and so for like a couple of hundred G's u can have a custom home over 2200 sqr ft with close access to some great hunting and fishing.
Yeh I will miss looking at the mountain ranges of California but I guesse I am ready for the change, got sister been in Tampa many years.
I will be a located south of Fort Myers minutes away from s.f. airport.
Florida just lifted the 6 month residency waiting period now to get a hunting license so once I get fl license I am ready to hunt.
They have outfitters that offer a 100% success if not, no kill no wound no pay policy.
Lot of public and WMA to hunt, licenses are dirt cheap to hunt wild game in fl . U can get a 5 year archery license for like 80 bucks. No tags for hogs.
I can go on and on. I already told my wife I was going bikini bow fishing, she said you are going to where a bikini and bowfish I said no not me my tour guide's! Hehe....tra

TRA I've only been on JHO for a year or so, but we traveled some of the same trails, I 'd been thinking I'd run into you at some point, but all the same can't wait to hear your new stories and see the pics of the new places. Safe travels

sounds good to me. Good luck out there. When my time comes..... I will b looking to TX. IMO its the best country boy state. Oh and all my family is there. now I wonder how many states pay u to kill pigs. I know tx will give you 2 bucks a tail. Not as good as $5 for river rat in LA but than again. Not many folks eats swamp rat. So 2 bucks is free ammo and the plus is you eat the pig.

Good luck in FL TRA. I always enjoy your posts on CA hunting and I'm going to miss your live reports. YOu gotta promise to do some live hog hunting reports from FL.

Have a safe trip when you make the final move.

thanks Jesse! yeh our house sold in 2 days while i was on my 4 day bear hunt week and a half ago. so now we are getting ready to move into our temporary rental for a few months till we move to Florida, was trying to get a temp rental house butt ended up having to rent in a high rise condo set up, so lot of my stuff has to go into storage, its going to be a hassle for me to get out and hunt and fish till i leave butt i gotta do whatta i gotta do!...tra

p.s. our lot in Florida is good size and directly behind our house and boardering our backyard is a preserve with a nice treeline! i know i am going to see someting coming out of those woods into the back yard like deer and pigs hopefully, there are nice ponds and waterways all over too......tra
