I starting riding my mountain bike at a county park near my home and saw a lot of promising games trails so this past weekend I decided to do a little recon for the spring dropping period. I haven't done a lot of shed hunting because frankly there aren't a lot of good areas within a 30 minute drive of my house. I've found a few over the past couple of years. So Saturday I get off the trail and up into the woods and I find all kinds of deer signs: well used trails, fresh bedding sites and a number of fresh scrapes. I was looking for an hour or so and was heading back to the trail when I looked to my right and down and there they were. The practically laid on top of each other, covered a little bit by leaves and dirt. I figure they had probably been there since spring of 2007 by the condition they were in. I don't know if the pictures reflect it but they are pretty good size, especially for these small coastal Blacktails we have in the Bay Area. Any guess on how old the deer might have been when he dropped these?

Great looking set.Well found.Great first matched pair.

I gota drive 4 hours each way to get to my area.30 minutes would be a dream,It takes me 30 minutes to ride out of the barn paddock.

I know nothing about Blacktails but that deer looks 4 years old. They could be his 3rd or 4th set.

PS: Where has everyone gone from the forum?
Have they all gone to that North American shed hunting mob?
