First off I want to thank Jeff for taking me out, We had a blast and we each got a pig! So here's how it all went down....

I met up with Jeff and Igor around 3:30 and went to the ranch to set up camp. We sat around for a couple of hours and then went out to hunt. After Jeff and Igor showed me around, they set up at their stand at about 7pm. Jeff told me to walk the creek bed and then get on the plateau to glass both fields on either side of the creek. After a short walk on top of the plateau I came up on 5-7 pigs (not sure exactly, pig fever got the best of me). I then backed up and knelled down to get out of sight of the pigs and to chamber my first round, dropped the safety and stood back up. At this point one of the bigger pigs was headed straight towards me. At 30 yards I aimed low at the left shoulder trying to get a vital shot and fired!

The pig immediately dropped and the rest of the pigs scattered. After inspection the round went right into the mouth, breaking the top jaw, through the vitals and stopped when it hit the rib cage. Blackhawk down! (pic of the dislodged bullet below). I radioed Jeff and then the work began.

We estimated the pig was in the 200 pound range by the trouble we had dragging it, but unfortunately we had no scale to confirm.

The next night about the same time as the night before we headed off on our hunt. I was running a bit behind Jeff and Igor as I had forgot my tag back at camp and had to return to get it halfway on the walk between the hunting grounds and camp. On my way back to the hunting grounds I heard a single shot and went to see what Jeff had shot at. Not more than 50 yards from where I had killed my hog the previous night I found him running frantically up the trail to cut off a "wounded pig". He came back down to where he had fired the shot and the three of us began to push the brush where he saw the pig run into. We formed a line and began to push through the forage only to find his pig dead on arrival 10 yards from where the shot hit it.

All in all we had a great weekend. We each got a pig, saw tons of quail, rabbits, coyotes, and even saw a buck 30 yards from where we set up camp. I couldn't have asked for a better hunt! Thanks Jeff!!!

That deer in the bottom pic don"t seem to be worried about a thing!

Tell me about it!!! We woke up and were drinking a cup of coffee and I saw this bush moving back and forth about 40 yards from our camp. I took a closer look and there was a nice little fork and horn just looking at us. Once he got a good look at us he went back to his breakfast. We were able to get about 20 yards from him and he had no problem with us getting close. He must have gotten notice from the DFG that deer season isn't for a couple more months lol!!!
