My Hunting Area Look'n Good

I been seeing between 11 & 13 deer daily in my hunting area lately. All the crop fields around here have been harvested except for the ones surrounding my stand area. Seen a really nice 8 pt yesterday morning, and he is very close to the vicinity of my stand. Let him stand around in bow range on tuesday like he was yesterday, and he wont be standing long.

Sure am getting excited over here!

I've had some great reports for my area. I can't get around very much yet, so my neighbor has been keeping me informed. Lots of good bucks & does are being seen. We've been chasing the same buck for 2 years. We both got a shot at him last year, but he's still breathe'in! Yep ~ he's been sighted again this year...

My neighbor's even said he's not gonna hunt, until I'm able to hunt. That was a great gesture, but I told him it's "fair chase" ~ ain't his fault I can't hunt yet... We've had a great time tag-teaming this buck, and he wants to continue doing it this year...

Have I got a great neighbor/hunting partner, or what?! I've got a feeling this is going to be the year!

I can't believe how long it took for deer season to get here this year...

Now, it's only a couple of days away!

Can't wait till Saturday!!!! Found some nice rubs, I know where they are traveling, just wish it would cool down some! Good hunting guys, hope to hear some stories tomorrow!

For you guys heading out tomorrow, don't forget the shorts and suntan lotion. It never fails...high near 90 and windy. I can't wait till the end of the month now.

2 or 3 weeks ago, I was seeing plenty of deer and their sign but the past week "Nada" ? ? ? the acorns are falling some and I bet their patterns changed and I've not caught up with them yet. I seen a nice 8prt last week tho and found a rub on a 3" tree at the same place yesterday so......

Tinhorn...something is up thats different cuz im not seeing them like I was either. Give it time and we'll figure them out.

Hey guys, they are switching their patterns now since they shed their velvet. It's almost an instant change from summer patterns to fall patterns. The summer food feast is over, now its time to be a lot more cautious during their travels. More movement at night and less time spent in the fields.

I'm going into my "find the does" mode. Where the does are, the bucks will soon follow.

I'm going to set up near a good bedding ridge along our CRP fields and wait for the bucks to come back from their night long travels. I usually don't expect to even start to see most bucks till 9 or 10 a.m.

They are different creatures now!

Set up on a watering hole,but it looks like rain before the weekend,if it holds out i may get lucky,but i think i may have to move,i have been getting some younguns (6pointers) on cam but nothing big yet,this being the first year i hunt this private property and very little time to scout has went and made things rough right from the git go. lots of does,maybe they will drag a big boy by later this month.

Update,Seems the landowner that is letting me hunt had a freind stop in last night to tell about a big 12pt that had just crossed the road in front of him going to the property im hunting, hehe,land owner cought some guys in there last night that no longer have permission (They had a key to the gate) he run them off and took their lock off,they was told im the only one to be hunting on him, i got real lucky here guys.

Sounds really good passthru....understand the mention of not knowing the area well...this is my first in this area too...not lookn good of late, havnt seen a deer for I think 3 days. Hope things pick up soon.
