Yesterday instead of taking the bow out, I went for a walk to start my shed hunting for this year.I only went out for a couple hours late afternoon and ended up looking til dark.Wish I'd have gone out earlier in the day now.
I ended up finding 3 sheds,2 fresh from this yr. and a old one from last year. All 3 were 4pt. sides. One of the fresh sheds came off the same buck that I got both of his sheds from last year. His shed this year had a 22 1/2" main beam.If I find his other side this year I'll be in heaven.
I did find the carcass of a dead 7pt. too.I can't get out again til thursday, but then I'll have 4 days to look from daylight til dark.
Good Luck finding those sheds this year!! IT'S HERE!!

Hey Deershed, you still driving around with the trunk of your car loaded with your sheds or what? I've been out looking two or three times now in a feeding area where me and a friend are setting some game-cams. It's a picked bean field with some really good winter cover but the snow's getting deeper and we're heading for more well below zero weather again beginning tomorrow. I'm just getting some pics with the game cameras and looking for an easy shed in the feeding area if one should drop early. No luck so far and I'm not going after them in the woods in this spot as the deer need to be left alone in there under the kind of conditions we're having. Hate to push them around in there. We just don't have many bucks left over in this region after the shooting ends. I'm wondering if the frigid temps and a little stress on the deer might cause any shedding or not?

Here's a pic of my shed from the other day.The shed on the far right is it,the matching set to the left are from the same buck from last year. Now if I can find it's other side this year I'll have two matching sets from the same buck back to back years.A first for me.

baddison-it's great to be back on the board. This is the place to be talking sheds!!

shag-I got the blazer back on the road,it has more room for sheds.lol
I've heard alot of Pa guys are finding sheds or seeing deer that have dropped.I'm sure it's the same up your way. That bean field should produce soon.

Nice sheds D.S.,
I found a fresh shed today, right half of a 150 class ten ptr.
I took some pix with my 35 mm cam, so I don't have have anything to show you yet. I got to get me a dig. cam.
I also found a left half of an 8 pt. last week that was left over from last year, not a chew mark on it. I may give it to L.E.B to use as a knife handle.
I did see three other bucks today that still had both antlers, two of them were good bucks.

hickstick...
There is some boy scout land (@ 4000 acres) down the road from my house, that borders another 6000 acres of abby land, all closed to hunting, a virtual sanctuary for deer. It's in the Town of Spencer.
If you want to find more, and better sheds, start early, and a freind told me a long time ago..."look in the pines".
BTW.. the tree bucks I saw the other day were all together.

well...I went to retrieve a couple stands and look for some shead and found a whole deer....well...most of one....a little forkie (maybe year and a half old) still had his rack and I don't think he had been dead too long....both hams eated to the bone and the entire contents of the abdomen eaten... was only a few yards from one of my stands...go figure....

pocomoke-I'm from Wash. county up near the Pa. line south of Gettysburg,Pa.
I do most of my shed hunting in Montgomery county.
I do some fishing at Soloman's Island and have hunted for sharks teeth down there too.

Just got two rolls of film back and every buck still had both sides, so I guess it will be awhile before I go out!

Baddison, I had to pull my camera. It was running well below zero and after a couple nights my batteries were history. Did get a few pics tho that are still on the camera. Still running really cold and snowy so haven't put the cam back out. Maybe this weekend except I risk someone following my not so hard to follow snowshoe tracks to my camera.

The antlers are finally starting to drop in S/E WI. Well, at least one. Spent pretty much the whole day looking in Waukesha county. A lot of hillsides in the oaks were really dug up, I checked those, a couple hundred beds, and the trails between in the morning. Found it laying on top of the snow, right in a deer trail leading to and from the oaks. It's just a little spike with a brow tine, but at least I'm off the snide for 04'. Then, in the afternoon, strapped on the cross country skis and hit some fields. No luck in the fields, and not much sign there. Skis sure were nice for covering ground in the snow covered fields, never tried that before. Good luck shedders!

Welcome to the boards Leinis's and CONGRATS on the shed!!I've been out twice this year with the snow trying to find one.I've found them in patchy snow, but never with a good covereing of snow.
I would love to though.
Congrats again and Good Luck the rest of the season!!
