I think the one thing I've learned from your threads is don't apply for elk hunts at FHL!

Going back down tomorrow, had to go to work today. We have one more chance Tuesday, for my wife to fill her tag. Then I will also explain the hunt story.

We are down here again and it is super foggy waiting for fog to lift so we can really see anything. I have our son in a backpack and we are hiking 13w after some fresh tracks.

Nice job on the first one and good luck on wrapping up today, especially with the son on your back. FHL Tule Elk is one of my favorite hunts. I took my 5 year old along with me for the 2011 Oct cow hunt, had a blast with him and took a nice cow..

Well we are done! Not really to happy with the hunt but it was an experience. Zone 20 and 22 were never opened up and we would see close to 100 in zone 22 and about 50 in zone 20 each day. I will post the story about my elk in the coming days, but for right now I just want to go home and relax. Sorry to leave you hanging but there is a hell of a story to tell. Cheers,Thomas

Word is your elk was confiscated by FHL wardens and you were cited for an illegal shooting of the elk in 16B (bow zone). If you plan on going to court you may not want to be posting about the hunt in the open until your case is over. Just sayin. I wasn't there and don't know the whole story so I'm not picking sides yet. My advise, tell the truth, them wardens are pretty good at recreating the scene and figuring out what really happened. Lying or fudging even small details makes you look guilty and will probably cost you.

Yes, I will not go into the details on here but for everyone's information I was cited for using a rifle in 16b. I used a tree to prop up against to make my shot. Unfortunately that tree was about ten feet on the left side of the road (the 16b side). It had sign on it saying archery only beyond this point I mistakenly thought of the tree as the literal boundary and not the road. For this infraction there was a small fine and I lost the elk which really hurt the most. I just wanted everyone to know and I will leave it at that for now.

That blows! 10 feet? Wow! I've seen those elk nestled in 16b and often wondered which way they traveled to get in there....I can see how that mistake can be made.

Dang! Sorry to hear about that and not too sure how I feel about it... Not knowing all the details my opinion is on hold as I know it can get confusing when bouncing between areas and the additional pressure of trying to tag out. Hang in there...
