Here's a 96" shed that my shed huntin buddy found. The main beam measures 30". The buck has since died and his skull with full rack was seized from the guy that found it by the DNR. He was estimated to be around 9 yrs. old and had grown an even bigger rack in previous years. Stay tuned for more pics.

The DNR seized it on suspicion that it was poached. The guy that found it wasn't my buddy. He was showing it off and someone blabbed. There was an undercover sting with an offer of $10,000 for the rack. He was arrested and threated with jail time, fines and loss of hunting priveleges for life. All charges were dropped after he agreed to let them have it. It was found on state land so now it hangs in a state office. I say finders keepers but you know the gov't.

3 Years Back I was shed Hunting on The Cuyahoga National Recreation area. here in Ohio I had found the carcass off a badly decayed deer with the rack entact I had taken the head with antlers it was all bone now anyway the meat was all gone. I was leaving the area when a Park ranger confronted me and confiscated the head.

I was told I was not allowed to remove anything that was within park lands. Including this. She put it in her car and did not return it to the land, I questioned her on this, why she did not just return it, I was told they seize these and run tests on them to determine age and record the animal when that is completed they return it to the woods.

I believe they may chart and record data, But as for returning it to the woods, Highly Unlikely.

It was a Gorgous head estimated in the 170's-180's It still Upstes me to this day. the 1 and Only whole head entact whole head I ever found and they seized it.
