Okay does anyone have any info on the two i cant decide between the two. The Alpen's are Alpen Apex 10x42 and the Minox's are Minox BL 10X42. My dad has the Minox BR 8.5x42 But i know they are more money than BL's so of course better glass. So i was wonderin if anyone has looked through the BL's and could compare the difference. Also the Alpens supposibly they are compared to Swarovskis but about a fraction of the price. Thats just what i have heard. So if anyone has any info on the Alpens or Minoxs please share your experience and info with me.

I had the Alpen Pro Series 10x42 and went to Leica 8x32 and their was no comparison. The Leicas won hands down for distance and up close clarity and brightness. Go with the Minox. Leica makes Minox binoculars.

My experience? Alpen is bottom of the barrel crap... worse than crap actually because you are paying for soemthing that makes the hunting experience worse, not better. Even Tasco products are better than Alpen.

I don't know anything about Minox, but if they are in the same price range as Alpen, keep in mind, you often get what you pay for (but on rare occassions there are deals to be had).

Alpen comparable, to Swarovski? You have to got be kidding... Alpen doesn't even compare to Nikon, let alone Swarovski. Who told you this? I'll guess someone selling Alpen products.

Disclaimer, I don't own Swarovski products (but I'd like to). I once purchased Alpen binos and a spotting scope as I was able to get a great deal on them and I figured they would be OK for their price, but I was imediately disappointed and I returned the Alpen glass for full refund.

I'm on the floor laughing that someone would compare Alpen to Swarovski... that should be a false advertising crime.

Good luck with your bino search... check out Nikon... reputable, honest, great warrenty, excellent value, and a heck of a lot better than Alpen (but not comparable to Swarovski).

Honest Backcountry on the Alpen website they compare the Swarovski Binocs to the Apexs it under something on their website but look they try and compare them. So i thought i would see your guys input, but thanks for saving me on my decision. Also yes it should be a crime if its lower than Tasco, so check out their website and see the BS for yourself.Once again thanks for the life saver

I took a look at Alpen's website and didn't see that comparison, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.

In the interest of full disclosure, the Alpen binos and spotting scope that I was dissatisfied with were purchased a few years ago... maybe their quality has gone up, maybe it hasn't... the spotting scope that was touted to be a 20x scope was grossly mislabled... it had no more magnification than a pair of 9x Nikons that I compared it to. The binos had a human hair and some grit that were loose and visible inside one of the optical tubes when looking into the objective... that didn't impress me at all...

Good luck!

Backcountry is right on! There's NO comparison between the Alpens and the Minox. Buy the better glass and you won't be needing new pair in 2-3 seasons. JMO
