Same as you would normally hunt in your home state. They are just animals but in a different state. Whats ever you shoot well. I like my 270 and 7mm. some people like 30-06/300. If you shoot it well stick with it. nuff said

I figured some of that terrain would be pretty thick at least where some of the pigs are, thanks for the info.

I use a 30-30...but sometimes wish I had some extra range. Most shots will be under 100 yards....very rarely will you need to shoot more than 50 yards for hogs. I'm also a bowhunter at heart and choose to stalk close as I can to my prey rather than popping them from across an opening at 200 yards. Open sights are good.

It really all depends where you plan on hunting, for instance the Big Island has everything from thick tangles filled with hogs to open alpine mountaintops covered with mouflon sheep. You obviously would need different guns for the different terrains.

Maui also has some really open mountain terrain that may require a scoped bolt gun, while it also has lush rainforest in the lowlands where a shotgun with slugs, 30-30 or smaller carbine may be the best gun.

Let us know what kind of hunting you plan on doing.
