Need some help for a hunt around Meeker Colorado

Well I am taking my annual pilmagridge to Wyoming and I have 35 days all to myself. The rancher I am staying with said I can use his truck while I am out there for whatever so I figured I would take 10 or so days and drive down to Colorado and do some Elk hunting (being CO. is the only state left with over the counter bull tags). I will have my camp on my back so I am fairly mobile. I am not hard set on Meeker but work with a few guys that have hunted the area in the past and they gave me some info (but not much) so I am open to suggestions. So I figured I would turn to the good folks here on Jesses and see what I could come up with. Like I said in the intro I don't expect anyone to share there honey holes but any general info would be great. Bear in mind I have never hunted Elk before but have messed around with a call a few times so this is going to be more of a learning trip for me than anything else, but hey you gotta start somewhere RIGHT??? Hey T, I don't even have a route I am going to take down there yet. It looks like going thru Baggs would get me where I need to go. I have a little more checking to do on the tag issue. I know there are some areas off limits with an OTC tag. so I gotta do some more homework. Like I said I am open to suggestions as long as we don't get to far south. Thanks

I use to live in westminster,co and hunt elk in area 63 down in Gunnison. Next year I might hunt in Oregon or maybe Colorado. I would not mind getting with couple guys to split cost. Iv'e taken tule elk with my Switch last year. let me know
