Hi all,

I have been a member of JHO for a few years now, mostly I just read everyones input, but it is a new year and time for resolutions... one being to be more literally involved in JHO ha ha!!

My bud and I need (and I do mean "need") to go pig hunting (archery only) PDQ. Would love to go to Choppers again, but I read he is booked up until June. I have been to Choppers, Hogs Wild, Hillside Hog Haven and Burrows Ranch... all being great places. Based on the hunting party being just 2 of us, Hogs Wild is now eliminated, Hillside only allows one hunter per day (guided only)...so that is also eliminated.. and Burrows Ranch may be our only option. However, I did hear about Pig Point Ranch being an ok place to go too...and very cheap to boot ($300) BUT I did hear that they have a fenced area (in case the outside area is a bust), but that fenced area is only 20 acres. that is tiny!! has anyone heard about this place? any input on this, or any other recomendations would be great.

Thanks all,

Do you mean hogs wild or hog wild. If im not mistaken hog wild is out of king City and hogs wild is 17 miles out side of Coalinga. Hogs wild out side of Coalinga does have a fenced area but it is 600 acers not 20 and is archery only. It cost 325 for two days one hog or 400 for two days two hogs. If you are interested in this place drop me an e-mail I am wanting to get up there myself. Plus its close I live in Coalinga.

here is there web site

wt,

I was referring to Hogs Wild outside of Coalinga. I had a great experience there. The 20 acre area is at pig point ranch (pigpointranch.com), at least that is my understanding. I am just not sure if what I read in a JHP thread was accurate in regards to the 20 acre play pin. that sure seems pretty small. If we decide to go there, I will definately let you know....then again, they may be booked up.

rwlittle,
I hunted at pig point ranch back in Nov. Mike raises "wild" pigs and sells them to ranchers to stock their ranches. He also stocks his own fenced in area with pigs. He has a penned up sow next to a watering hole up on his property. Wild pigs come down from the backside of cow mountain and try to mate with the penned up sow. They also try to get into his pen. These are the only wild pigs on his property. PM me with your phone # and I will give you further details.
