Some of you have heard about the MLPA process. If you have not, it is a process going on that is basically shutting down most of the California coast to any kind of fishing. It is being funded and driven by several groups who are anti-fishing. The closures are going to be made without any scientific justification. We have been fighting it for months with no affect. We write letters, write emails and show up at the public meetings to voice our opinions. So far, we have not seen any indication that we are being heard.
August 5 is the last public meeting before a decision is made on which option of several is going to be adapted for the northern coast. Several fishing groups are trying to get the F&G Commission to adapt option 2XA. It does the least damage to the local economies and retains recreational use of at least some of the coastline. They schedule these meetings in the middle of the week and in outlying sites. We believe it is to make it hard for the public to attend. This last meeting is being held at the Woodland Fliers Club:

If you could join us in showing up in force to voice our support for 2XA, that would be great. However, I know that it would be difficult for most of you. Second best is if you could send a letter of support. There is a canned letter that you can send by going to the following link. Just fill in the info boxes and click the send button. We are hoping that if we flood them with letters supporting 2XA, maybe they will finally pay attention to us.
