So this doctor I go to for my shoulder felt sorry for me because I haven't gotten a pig yet so he made a few calls to some people he knows. Turns out he has a friend in Santa Cruz Area that is willing to let me hunt his land and he says there is a couple old 350+ boars up there that need to be evicted. He said they have real dark mane like hair on thier backs and that they're smart as can be, but I think my .270 is smarter. I can't wait to meet him at the end of the week.!!

My question is what do you think I should gift him for this opportunity? A large bottle of Jack Daniels? That's how we always did it in Idaho. There was no money involved at all, so a monetary gift wouldn't have a place. Maybe I'll have to do all his outdoor chores for a month.

Now My Doc is telling me he has another possible opportunity for me on some vineyard land in the King City area... I should have started seeing him when I first came to California...

Cheers

Dang, Lee.

Sounds like a good doctor! Maybe I should look him up too?

I always thought that a nice bottle of primo liquor or some fine wine was a great gift for something like that (if the person drinks). And of course, some meat off your harvest.

Where is this place? I'll do some "pre-scouting" for you...hehehe

As for a gift for the Santa Cruz guy - I'd kick down a bottle of local squeezings like David Bruce Estate Bottled Pinot Noir. That's a real crowd pleaser.

Cheers.

Leechul,
You know, it's really not safe to hunt alone.
I'm willing to make a sacrifice and come along. Just so we all know you get home safe.

I'd say Liquor, if it's on a vineyard, chances are this guy has plenty of wine.
Have a great hunt.

I can scout on my own, thanks for all the offers. If he does need help ridding extra pigs I'll let you all know. But until then stay tuned.
Cheers

A Gift Certificate to the local Steak House always works for me. Good luck with the hunt. Don't forget the pics.

Have you asked "the Doc" what your new friend enjoys? The steakhouse sounds on the mark though.

"Chili's"?? This guy is going to put you in prime pig land and you're thinking of "Chili's"? Son, didn't your mama teach you no manners?

Now I've eaten at many high priced steakhouses, "Chart House" for one example, and I've always found that places like Applebees, Chilis, and Outback Steak house are not only very affordable, but have the best food also.

Lee Chul, if is is Chili's you like, there is one in Capitola. As fas as a decent steak house in Santa Cruz I have always enjoyed The Hindquarter on Soque Ave. Lots of good luck on your hunt. Bob

Hindquarter? No way.

Throw down for some dinner coupons at the Crow's Nest and call it good.

Okay Rancho, I thought we were talking strictly steakhouses. We do't have much of a choice here in town. I agree with the Crow's Nest, great place,...cheaper and also very good is Rosa's at the Yacht Harbor. Very good Mexican style rotissiere ribs and chicken. Tasty salsas too.......
