NEW CAMERA YAHOO!!!!!

Well I finaly got a new camera, a Panasonic Fz20 new in box off of ebay for 255.00. I already know I'm goin to need another SD card(s). My problem lies in the fact I don't know anything about cards. How much memory I should i consider? I think the camera can support up to 2 gigs. I just don't think I should put all my eggs into one basket sort of speak. Any brands you would recomend or stay clear of? What is memory speed and what should I look for as far as speed is conserned? Thanks all for your help.

Lot's of options.

1) if you want very high res images then use a 1G or 2G card, and shoot at max resolution. Use editing software to cut/crop/resize for convenient email, etc. Bigger images means fewer can be stored on each card, but you have the best quality for cropping, printing, etc. Also larger images take space on your computer when you transfer the files. At 5M images a 1G card holds less than 200 pics.

2) (this is what I typically do). Shoot at 1M to 1.5M or so resolution (1200 x 1024 or 1600 x 1200 or whatever choices you have to shoot images about 1M (megabyte, 1 million bytes). These 1M+ images are still good resolution, but can be emailed without resizing, editing. And whole images can be displayed on a laptop/pc screen. I use 1G cards and each holds about 900 images at over 1M each.
I keep at least a hundred pics in the camera (best pics). Using the analog-out cable you can connect the camera to any TV and show off your collection of hunting pics. We always review the day's hunting pic in the hotel room or even in my Yukon on the way home!

You still need to resize the images for attachments in Jesse's forums (250k is the single image limit in a forum message attachment).

The "all you eggs in one basket" applies. If you have say a 2G or even 4G card and you loose or destroy it you could loose 1000's of pics. As I said I use 1G, take 1M pics and can hold about 900 pics per card.

Memory cards are getting cheaper and higher res cameras are also.

Take lots of pics and you'll get a few good ones.
