Has anyone hunted on the Jack ranch with Hook's guide service?

The Jack Ranch has been around for sometime now. Personally, I have never hunted with the outfitt, but I have heard some very positive feedback about the property. It is located in one of the most hog infested areas of the central coast. They do charge a "Trophy Fee" @$1,000 bucks. I can only speak from my experince. I would NEVER pay a trophy fee to hunt hogs. California has WAY to many guides who DO NOT charge a trophy fee and you can get a QUALITY hunt in the $500-$600 range. Again, I'm not knocking his ranch or his operation, just giving my 2 cents....

I emailed them to ask how they classify "Trophy Hog" compared to meat hog. Some ranches go by the weight of the pig, some go by tusk length. Some don't tell you because they want to charge you after you shoot. They never responded.

He told me they classify trophy boar by tusk length, anything 3" or greater. he said this was requested by the owners of the ranch not by the outfitter.
You need to call him, as he doesn't reply to the email requests from the website.

Good luck. It sounds like you're in for a heck of a fun time. Nothing beats shooting hogs.

guys i have hunted there a couple of times 2006 and 2007 and had a great trip both times....what i didnt like was how many hogs they took off that ranch a year....they had a list on a wall by the freezer and those years alone you could see the size, sex and date that they were hunting....i was amazed at how close the dates were and that they were killing everything from 30lbs to 350lbs...sows and boars alike...just my 2 cents but i plan on hunting hogs with my 9 week old son in the future and with that type of management it would be tough....we saw a few hogs on every outing, but its nothing like the pictures they had on the wall from the past. but i will tell you this, they were a great group of guys when we were there, and as far as i know they had shut down the hunting for awhile...so who knows...

I have hunted Jack Ranch a few times with Mark. Im wondering if anyone has hunted with the new guide service "Hook's Guide Service". I would like a short review if possible. Thanks.
