Ok, I'm kinda new at hog hunting and would be interested if there was anyone out there who would like to take a young pup out to show him the ropes. I am an avid upland hunter and got one deer when I was 14 (THANKS GRANDPA). Shooting has always been a passion.

I own several firearms and am also an avid archer. Any one willing to take on a hunting partner? Let me know!

Hey Jd....Welcome tho Jesse's

Stick around and check out the hog hunting forum on a regular basis...

JHO members hook up pretty regular for rifle and bow-hunts all over the state. We also had the 1st annual JHO ham-slam recently - which was a blast, and an archery only hunt at Chopper's, too (private ranch).

Just a word of warning - keep the door unlocked, and your hand tight on the eject ring if you end up in Speckmisser's tactical vehicle.

Cheers..

Boy, my driving reputation will never get over this. I guess I should shut-down the Roadmisser Driving School and Self-Recovery Clinic.

JD, it's getting a little close to deer season to hold out much hope for a hog hunt, but hang around, make friends, and who knows what will come up later in the year... or sooner than that, if you're lucky. If you're REALLY lucky, someone will invite you onto private land, and you may even get to see a hog... which would be way better than just taking the guns for a walk on public land.

Of course, you're more than welcome to jump in on any group hunts that come up. We'll be doing another Ham Slam next year, and there are smaller group hunts all the time.

There's a lot to learn from this site, if you have time to search and read. The main JHO page has some good hog hunting info also, to provide good background knowledge.

Good luck!

Welcome to the board! Good to have you here

I'm not doing much hunting between now and oct mostly just fishing.... If I was you and was looking to bag a hog I'd stick around and go on one of the JHO hunting events. Lots of people to talk trash w/ and they pick some great areas too!

I'd say theres NOT a tremendous amount of opportunities to hunt pigs on public land in CA so go w/ an outfitter/guide for starting out. Its not the cheapest hobby in the world but it beats doing anything else....

Theres a lot of archery places that have some great opprotunities at pigs in CA I'll be going on a few after my deer season before my spring turkey season. If you wanna hook up then I'd be more then willing to try and get you on some pigs!

Good luck!

JD, if you are retired or military, let me know. I will be able to hook you up with a good pig hunt on a military base.
