I'm new to hunting and I have a few questions. First I was wondering if there was a guide service that would take to public zones so I could then go on my own at later seasons. Also I was thinking of hunting A North, does anyone have any advice or tips on this zone?

Hey guys, I'm familiar with hunting, but brand new to the Bay Area. If anybody needs a hunting partner, just let me know. If nothing else we can help cut gas bills...

The only suggestions I can make for hunting A north is to get a map, and get out and see the terrain for yourself. That is how I found my hunting spots. Target an area that looks good, and then go check it out. No map or online sattelite imagery will compare with actually being there. There's no need to hire a guide, you have a great resource right here on JHO. Also check out DFG hunting on public land booklet. For A north you will not find solitude and seclusion, as it is very popular with hunters. But it is possible to find good hunting spots on public land in A zone north. Just dont expect immediate results. The success rate is not very high, and one must be very diligent and dedicated to harvest a buck publicly. It took me almost 6 years to get my first, but I loved every minute I was out there. Good luck and ask a lot of questions, pay close attention as sometimes the answers are kinda hidden!!

Newbie to hunting - probably the greenest of all you. I am looking for a partner. Unlike some of you who posted earlier, I live down in San Diego. Driving is not too much of a problem. My lack of experience is. Hoping someone experienced out there is willing to take on a green cabbage. Deer, pig, upland, waterfowl are all things I would like the experience hunt/learn to hunt.

Can anyone out there offer any advice/suggestions?
