New Olympus C-700UZ 10x digital camera due out in May 2001

Olympus has just announced a new 10x optical zone 2.1 megapixel camera, the C-700UZ due out in May. Street price is $700.00 A lot smaller and less bulky than the C-2100UZ it looks like.

Office Depot in Houston has them for $599.99, as of August 26th.

Without the IS (Image Stabilization) like the Olympus 2100 has, I'm not sure this camera is the best deal for the field. I shoot with my 2100 freehand a lot when I don't have a tripod along and the pics are sharp, even without any rest. From reading the Olymps forum it sounds liek the 700 isn't as sharp in this same situation.
