At the recent Roseburg Sportsman Show a giant Roosevelt Elk was submitted for the competition of local game heads. The Oregon State Records Book allows a classification of typical and non-typical Roosevelt Elk, rifle, archery and black powder. This is the only classification of non-typical Roosevelt Elk there is. B&C and P&Y only have typical classifications for Roosevelt Elk.
Travis Price submitted the entry and walked away with the top spot for a non-typical. The elk became the new state record with a score of 381 5/8". As a typical elk, it will be submitted to P&Y with a score of 345 4/8", which is a pending No. 4.

The elk could be invited to the bienniel convention in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in April of 2007, as a possible top 5 entry.
