I just started shed hunting a month ago. I found a matched set of 5 points while taking pictures of deer on a North Texas ranch and now am hooked. I've found 3 more singles in the last couple of weeks. Trying to teach my 8 month old Lab pup to help me. Need tips.

Baddison, I have Masters from OU but my heart belongs to OSU COWBOYS!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the sheds. Where are you finding the sheds?? Feeding areas, bedding areas or trails?? It is hard to give advice for other states and we can only talk about the basics. It is still early for bucks to be shedding in Texas I would imagine, so you definitely are on the right track since you are finding them. Read all the old posts and newer ones on where to look. Very good advice given and some of it should work for you.

We find most of our sheds in feeding areas or trails leading to them. You need to know where and what the bucks are feeding on "now" and not last fall. With the breeding season over the only thing the bucks are concentrating on is feeding now. Keep that in mind when looking for sheds. The more you know about the bucks habits the better you can search for sheds.
