My name is joe and I live in santa monica California and I want to take out my new rifle I bought on my 18th birthday for a little hunting/camping trip with my friends. We want to go anywhere in a 250 mile radius. does anyone know any places we can go that don't have any park rangers. We don't need to go to a place that's infested with deer just a nice place you guys may know of that we wouldn't get into trouble for having a rifle with us. Thanks so much

deer season is open in the A zone, so if you want to hunt deer or bear right now, that is where where you have to go. you will need a license and a tag, and to get a license you will need to have taken a hunter safety course. pig season is year-round, but chances of finding pig on public land are very very low, FYI. as bad as deer....

if you want to camp where you can shoot, this is a tough time. all the elevations high enough to be cooler are national forests, and shooting in national forests is usually closed during fire season (now). BLM land is usually open for shooting, there is a no-steel-ammo restriction right now, but that is easy to deal with. however, BLM land open to shooting is HOT right now. Effing H-O-T HOT.

if that does not bother you, then head out east on the 10 past Indio, or north on the 15 bast Barstow.
