I just found this forum today and decided to join up. So far this year I have found one small 4-pt. shed while I was out rabbit hunting on Feb. 17. Since then, I have been out a few times in the snow actually looking for sheds but haven't found any more. This will be my first year of hardcore shed hunting and I'm pretty excited. I have so many areas right now that I want to hit up that I don't know if I'll be able to get to them all before turkey season. Earlier this week I got permission to look on a couple of awesome adjoining pieces of property near my home here in Steuben County. From what I have heard, people have reported seeing some monsters at both locations after season and I certainly saw some monsters here while spotlighting during August and September. The snow is just about gone and I can't wait to start hitting the woods and fields this weekend.

WNY Bowhunter, welcome to JHO! Congrats on the shed, that's better than I've done this year. I know what you mean about the snow, we only have a little left here in Ulster County. I'm anxious to get out Monday and hopefully find some sheds. I don't know if you know about it, but you should also check out www.bowsite.com It's not for shed hunting, but it's the best bowhunting site out there. Good luck!

A friend of my dad's saw a monster 8 or 10 pt. with really long tines cross the road in front of him and go up into my uncle's woods on Weds (3/4) ! This is the first account that I've heard in a month of bucks still packing antlers.

I got out for about half an hour on Sat. and found a nice 2.5 yr. old 5-pt. side on the way back to the truck. The antler was actually laying only 20 or 30 yards from the road. If the G-2 hadn't been broken, it would have scored around 55". It looks like it had been laying out there for at least a couple of years. It was still in good shape though and hardly had any chew marks on it.
