Nice boar on video... just before I arrived today!

Got to the ranch today just in time to have missed this big boy coming over the ridge about an hour before I arrived. Looks 200+. I saw two other big black boars together but they got spooked and took off before I could move into position. The recent rains have gotten the pigs very active as I saw a lot of fresh rooting where there was none just a week ago.

Only put the oranges there to get videos of critters passing thru this spot (though interestingly none like them as they've been there for a month). I've posted a bunch of other videos from the same spot in the past without the oranges. If this looks bad I'll pull the post but I do not bait for hunting. Don't need or want to.

Next time I shoot a hog I'm going to do same on the gut pile to watch what happens.

I don't know of a single state where you can't bait; but many don't allow you to hunt within a specified distance of bait; so I didn't see anything illegal here.

Then you may not of heard of the left coast state of California. The law is you can't hunt within 400 yds of any bait pile.

[h=4]§257.5. Prohibition Against Taking Resident Game Birds and Mammals by the Aid of Bait.[/h]Except as otherwise provided in these regulations or in the Fish and Game Code, resident game birds and mammals may not be taken within 400 yards of any baited area.

• (a) Definition of Baited Area. As used in this regulation, "baited area" shall mean any area where shelled, shucked or unshucked corn, wheat or other grains, salt, or other feed whatsoever capable of luring, attracting, or enticing such birds or mammals is directly or indirectly placed, exposed, deposited, distributed, or scattered, and such area shall remain a baited area for ten days following complete removal
