Went hunting yesterday at about noon with my friends pack of hounds. We got to the area we were going to hunt and pushed through the lowlands. There was nothing for sign, no water, no fruit so we decided that the pigs probably weren't in the area and pushed up a ridge probably 1000ft up with no trail to the top of the mountain. We were hiking (more like crashing, tripping and falling) along the ridge on the side of a giant hanging valley. I had climbed up into a koa tree to collect seeds and all the dogs took off into a house sized clump of lilikoi. Then we heard the first bark down at the very bottom of the valley. Then some grunts, then some barks then a squeal for a few seconds, it went on like this for a minute or so until we could start crashing, tripping and falling down a ridge covered in chest high tangle fern. We got there and bladed the pig, it was a small sow maybe about 70lbs, but nice and fat. Perfect timing with thanksgiving coming up. We butchered her up, her lower and front legs were pretty bruised from the dogs. This reminds me again why I like stillhunting more. We followed the valley straight up until we were at the main ridge of the mountain range. Then pushed along the top hoping to find a nice trail to follow through the fern and thick undergrowth. I saw another good size 100-120lb pig bust from the top of the ridge and cross over, I didn't have enough time to chamber a round and get my sights on him, plus my hunting buddy was on the other side so I couldn't shoot. The dogs ran off and it took maybe 30minutes before we got them back. Right before we hit our trail down the cliffside by rope we busted another but for some reason the dogs didn't chase it at all. I think they were too tired. We had gone a 9 hour day without seeing a drop of water. I was so parched by the time we got to the truck, we went to the store and drank 2 gatorades before I got home. Im happy none of the dogs got heatstroke or anything. It was a hot one.

Here's a pic with me and my amish hunting buddy. And his dog Georgia. She's a pitbull x lemon pointer/english pointer or something like that.

At least you didn't have to pack a big one in that heat. How many dogs were you running? Look like tough country to get around in.
