Hey all.. i'm new to this forum. I'm in the market for a new scope for primarily spotting for hunting purposes. My price range is in the 500 to 600 CDN dollars. I have been seriously considering either the Leupold gold ring compact 15-30 * 50 or the Nikon prostaff 15-45 * 65. Both get great reviews and both look to be scopes that i would be happy with. Has anyone had the oportunity to try out both and if so... which one would you give the nod to. They are both had for the same price here. Maybe there is something else i should be looking at in that neighborhood as well that i have overlooked? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Try this website before you buy, the demo prices are great and come with full warranty. The demos are from displays at shows or in their shop.

Jayman, Camerland is a great company to buy from and they have good advice. Both of the Zeiss scopes I use I got from them and they are flawless.

Thanx for the input link betelguese... it was a good read. I am not however considering a 80ml lense whatsoever... it is just way too big for my needs. It was interesting that you found that the Swaro didn't blow the doors off the Nikon. If i had spent the extra $1400 i would expect it would win by a landslide.

Mjb.... thanks for the info. I'm gonna check out their site again. I wish they carried Leupold stuff.

You might want to check out the scope quest 2008 reviews. There is a pdf with summary of individual scope scores. Check on-line prices. Many of the scopes are deeply discounted from the list price. Hope this helps.
